Jar of Remembrance

Last night our family sat down together and took turns pulling little slips of paper out of a glass jar. On each one was a date and a detail about how God had either surprised us with His favor, or answered a prayer, or revealed His love for us over the last 12 months.

It was beautiful to hear, again, how much the Lord has been faithful to us, and how much He has lavished His great love upon us, day after day.

How he provided extra time for my oldest son to complete his assignments in school, or how he provided an opportunity for my youngest son to join the leadership team at a local youth group, or how he faithfully protected my sister-in-law as she went through surgery and emerged cancer-free, or how he showered my wife with his inexpressible grace at just the right moment, or how that check came in the mail just in time for us to pay that bill.

Now that jar is empty. It sits on a small table in our den, waiting to be refilled with all the blessings and miracles of 2015.

I can't wait to see what God does next.
