Happy Birthday (To Me) - November 9

HAPPY BIRTHDAY (to me)

Yes, forty two years ago the fabric of space and time pulled back to reveal this fragile and yet strangely troubled soul.

It was a day of wonder and tears. Cigarettes were burned. Laughter echoed down the hallway. A mother's heart slid into gear.

The angel's sighed, and one of them farted, but no one knew which one it was so they pretended not to hear.

It was a day of love so great it hurt to breathe.

Glad to be here, friends. Hope to be here a bit longer before I join the flatulent angels.

Wubba,

Keith

Greetings and "Happy Birthday!"

Because you're here, many of us can say "and a 'Happy Unbirthday' to us!", meaning we wouldn't be as blessed as we are if Daddy God hadn't brought you into being.

Forty-two, huh? I remember that year! I was still disappointed that Douglas Adams was an atheist because I found humor as well as traces of God in his Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series. Still, I referenced that august tome when sending out party invitations, letting friends know I had reached the age referred to as the answer to life, the universe, and everything and, while I didn't have the answer I knew the One who did. (Yeah, it was weird; but it worked. It made people laugh and think of the Lord all at the same time. Now I find humor in some of Terry Pratchett's Discworld series, another atheist who references true theology in such a way that my heart is turned toward Home. Or maybe I just find our precious Lord everywhere I look....)

Anyway, I'm glad we have opportunity to celebrate your birth! And thrilled that our laughing God has given you such a delightful sense of humor. I pray this day will be one of joy and delight, and that you'll see the year before you as an adventure to skip through, hand in hand with the Lord.

all of Heaven's best,
Margret
