America is not the messenger of Jesus. America is the messenger of Death. She masquerades as an angel of light, but her hands are full of murder and bloodshed. She is the Angel of Death.
America kills more people around the world than Al Quaeda every day.
America spends more of its money on creating instruments of death than any other nation on Earth. More than the other fourteen largest nations combined.
No one loves death and war more than America.
America allows her own children to starve so that the most number of weapons can be built to kill as many people around the world as possible.
American is an Empire, and like all Empires, America rules by death and fear and the sword. All while pretending she is for freedom and truth and democracy.
America has more power than Rome ever had. America has the capacity to kill more people around the world than Rome ever dreamed of. She exploits more poor nations around the world and rules by intimidation and fear.
America is nothing like Jesus. She is not Christ-like. America is a bully.
America will kill children for financial gain.
America will exploit the poor to build greater wealth for herself.
America believes that if it can kill enough people, the world will become a better place.
America does not love freedom.
America loves money.
America does not love the poor.
America loves Herself, and money.
America's God is not Jesus. Her only gods are comfort, and safety, and luxury. War, and death and deception are in her heart.
America's God demands a human sacrifice, which Her citizens readily, even tearfully oblige.
We call them "Heroes". We say that they are fighting for our freedoms and defending our rights as American citizens. But the truth is, they are dying for none of those reasons.
Our dear sons and daughters are sent by the thousands to die on foreign soil so that our richest Corporations may earn Billions more in profits.
The rich get richer. The poor die, or get poorer.
America is not beautiful. America is not christian. America is an empire that crushes, kills, exploits, destroys, and lies about with a smile.
"And I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. For her sins have reached to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities. Render to her just as she rendered to you, and repay her double according to her works; in the cup which she has mixed, mix double for her. In the measure that she glorified herself and lived luxuriously, in the same measure give her torment and sorrow; for she says in her heart, ‘I sit as queen, and am no widow, and will not see sorrow.’ Therefore her plagues will come in one day—death and mourning and famine. And she will be utterly burned with fire, for strong is the Lord God who judges her." (Rev. 18:4-8)
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:13-15)

Keith, well done for having the courage to call it like it is. I'm a Brit, so I must choose my words carefully (and I'm under no illusions about Britain's own true status, by the way), but it has often puzzled me how so many American Christians appear to view the USA as God's special representative on earth, and to view the much-vaunted American Dream as somehow being of equal (if not greater) importance than the Kingdom of God.
ReplyDeleteDoubtless you will lose readers and followers, but it's time people woke up to the reality.
Keith, I'm still following your posts. I think too many of us link being American with being Christian, this is a good wake up call.

ReplyDeleteThis follower of Jesus reluctantly concurs with what you have written.
America is Rome. But the romans are our brothers and sisters.
Problem: America is complex. This essay is not complex. It is simplistic and one-sided. I didn't think Rev Wright was being prophetic when he shouted: "God Damn America" because of our national sins and I don't think this is prophetic either.
ReplyDeleteIt would be an interesting juxtaposition for you to proclaim this on the National Mall in front of, say, the Korean War Memorial, for example.
In my opinion, if you want an accurately "prophetic" view of America, you need look no further than Abraham Lincoln's Second Inaugural Address. Any nation that can produce that mind and that kind of moral and spiritual insight is to be honored where honor is due.
Bill, I can easily imagine the people around Ezekiel and his like saying the same thing.
ReplyDeleteBill,
ReplyDeleteAll essays are one-sided. It comes inherently as they are written by one person. There are a number of facts stated in this piece which are easily verifiable - draw your own conclusions from those facts.
Talking about "America" as a whole is misleading anyway, unless referring to the US Government and the military-industrial complex. When looking at the people, there are about 11 identifiable "nations" under the rubric of "The United States of America", each with a particular historic origin and a definable culture and outlook on life. The USA is an amalgam of the values of those 11 "nations", and the military-industrial complex is the instrument of that amalgamated vision.
This, of course, presumes that you believe that our government is representative of the people, and not of the interests who funded their campaigns.
"Any nation that can produce that mind and that kind of moral and spiritual insight is to be honored where honor is due."
ReplyDeleteBill: Where does Jesus ever tell us to honor any nation?
Should we honor America for producing the mind and insight of Lincoln, or should we offer that credit and glory to God?
Thanks Keith for being willing to tell the truth, no matter how hard to hear. I think we, as American Christians, need to be more Kingdom minded and less nationalistic. Yes, when America does something good we should acknowledge it (Roman Roads). But, as Christians, our allegiance is in Heaven, and our King is Jesus. We happen to live in the United States of America. Our tendency towards strong nationalism can tend to cause us to call what is evil as good. We end up holding values that are the opposite of Jesus. Listen to what some American Christians say about the poor and what should be done for the poor and you have an excellent example. We need to refocus our eyes on our King and His Kingdom and only give honor where honor is truly due. And we need to tell the truth prophetically even when it is inconvenient. Thanks for doing that Kieth.
ReplyDeleteKeith,
ReplyDeleteI know it took tremendous courage to say "yes" to Father's prompting to write, and share, these words. Well done. America is certainly not alone in making power their god - but as an American, it is sad to see how deeply that idolatry is glossed over in interweaving being a Christian, and being an American (and further, a certain kind of American). I am thankful and proud of this land The Lord planted me in - but I pledge allegiance to Him alone. I rejoice in my DEPENDENCE rather than my Independence. Thank you again. Bless you big.
yes that is a brave post but truth must take fist place-and America is a consumeristic bunch and I agree that America is not a true Christian nation but a religious one and fast becoming a humanistic oriented one--thanks
ReplyDeleteKeith, I am curious what you think of the Stream of Cristian thought growing in the U.S. that focuses just on taking authority given by Jesus to take back what has been given up to Satan, that focuses on "kingdom authority and kingdom living", that believes God loves and doesn't judge at this time. Obviously, America needs God!
ReplyDeleteI don't subscribe to that theology, Susan, but when I see America exploiting the poorest of people around the world - and doing it in the Name of Jesus (pretending to be a "Christian Nation") - I can't imagine that God would continue to allow us to profane His Name this way.
ReplyDeleteTypically, I don't tend to believe that God is in the habit of judging nations at this point in History, but when we continue to get rich and comfortable at the expense of the poor, the Lord's patience may be growing thin.
Historically, the main reasons God destroyed Empires was that they were rich, arrogant and exploited the poor. This is where America is today.
Repentance would be wise.
Does this make you and me killers and murders as Americans? Can a nation be Christian? How would America repent?
ReplyDeleteKeith, what do you think of Dinesh D'Souza's new movie: America?
ReplyDeleteKeith, I think I can understand you heart here and appreciate you. When it comes to human authoritative powers of the world I wonder if it is pertinent to our life in Christ to dwell upon what the world powers do or say. In the Kingdom of Heaven/God we do not lord over one another as the world does in its systems of power. The kingdom of God is not of that system. What you are addressing are two different kingdoms, one is God’s and the other is not. Does it seem helpful to try to make the kingdom of darkness do what Light does? Would not this be just the Tree of Knowledge of good and evil, of right and wrong? This is not Life, not the way to life, not the Spirit of Life within, which is the only change from death to Life. Anything else is of the other tree: the knowledge of what to do, when to do it, and how to do it to Be Good, to be like God. It is Him in us who is Himself Good, there is only one who is Good.
